The Most Common ENT Issues and How We Help Solve Them

People of all ages are susceptible to ear, nose, and throat (ENT) disorders, which significantly interfere with day-to-day functions. We treat a variety of ENT issues at Pinnacle ENT Associates, from chronic sinus infections to hearing loss, and provide treatment to help our patients achieve long-lasting relief. Here are a few of the most prevalent ENT conditions we treat, along with solutions provided by our team of experts.

Chronic Sinus Infections

Chronic sinusitis is a condition where inflammation and infection of the sinuses last for 12 weeks or more. Patients often deal with nasal congestion, facial pain or pressure, postnasal drip, and fatigue. When over-the-counter medications and antibiotics aren’t enough, it may be time to see an ENT.

How We Help: At Pinnacle ENT, we diagnose sinus problems using nasal endoscopy and cutting-edge imaging. Prescription drugs, allergy testing and treatment, and in certain situations, minimally invasive procedures like balloon sinuplasty to open and drain blocked sinuses are available as treatment options.

Ear Infections and Hearing Loss

Ear infections are especially common in children, but adults can be impacted,, too. Recurrent infections can lead to hearing issues, fluid buildup, and discomfort. Age-related hearing loss and noise exposure are also common causes of reduced hearing in adults.

How We Help: We diagnose and treat both acute and chronic ear infections using a combination of medication, ear tubes, when needed, and hearing evaluations. For hearing loss, Pinnacle ENT provides hearing tests and solutions like hearing aids, cochlear implants, and medical management based on the cause and severity.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea

While occasional snoring may not be cause for concern, chronic snoring and obstructive sleep apnea can interfere with the quality of sleep and overall health. Left untreated, sleep apnea increases the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and daytime fatigue.

How We Help: To identify the underlying cause of apnea or snoring, our team conducts comprehensive assessments. To restore healthy breathing while you sleep, we may suggest lifestyle modifications, sleep studies, CPAP therapy, oral appliances, or surgical options like tonsillectomy, palate procedures, or septoplasty.

Allergies and Nasal Congestion

Seasonal and environmental allergies can trigger nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, and sinus pressure. Chronic nasal inflammation can also contribute to breathing problems and sinus infections.

How We Help: In addition to prescription drugs, nasal sprays, and minimally invasive procedures to reduce nasal blockage, we provide allergy testing and immunotherapy. Our objective is to provide patients with long-term relief from allergy symptoms and easier breathing.

Tonsillitis and Sore Throats

Recurring sore throats, swollen tonsils, and difficulty swallowing may indicate chronic tonsillitis or other throat conditions. Children and adults who frequently suffer from throat infections may benefit from an ENT evaluation.

How We Help: Following an examination, we may advise taking antibiotics or having a tonsillectomy, if the infection keeps returning, we also check for sleep disorders, breathing issues, and strep throat.

Voice and Swallowing Disorders

Hoarseness, vocal strain, or difficulty swallowing can interfere with communication and eating. These issues may be caused by vocal cord problems, reflux, or structural issues in the throat.

How We Help: Using laryngoscopy and other tools, we assess voice and swallowing function. Treatment may include voice therapy, medications, or surgical interventions, based on the diagnosis.
