Facial PlasticWhether facial plastic surgeries are an existing part of your beauty regimen or you’re just starting to think about cosmetic procedures, you may be curious about what facial plastic trends will be popular during 2021. We’ve compiled our predictions below.
Medical technology is always advancing, including for cosmetic procedures. One newer development is Piezo technology, which revolutionizes how surgeons conduct procedures like rhinoplasty (nose jobs). This ultrasonic technology permits greater precision, allowing surgeons to shape the bone in a much less intrusive way compared to traditional techniques, resulting in less bruising and more accurate results.
For almost a full year, we’ve traded in-person interactions for Zoom meetings. This much time in front of the camera looking at oneself on the screen has led to a boom in cosmetic procedures involving injectables. “Many who have had the treatment for the first time are likely to continue into next year as well as more ‘first-timers,’” explained Dr. Anjali Mahto, a consulting dermatologist.
A new injectable called Profhilo, which uses concentrates of hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen and elastin, is predicted to become popular this year.
Another trend we’re predicting this year is the eight-teeth smile. According to Perfect Smile Award-winning Dentist and Invisalign Ambassador Dr. Rhona Eskander, “If you have a broad smile, with 8-10 teeth showing on smiling, we describe this as having full buccal corridors.” Adding cosmetic bonding or minimal prep veneers to the back teeth may give you just the smile you desire for your selfies at the Rocky Statue in Philadelphia.
While most clinics price their treatments per target area, many are beginning to treat the face as a whole. As Dr. Rosh, Medical Director of KLNIK, explains, “Often just injecting one specific area, such as lips or cheeks, can leave someone looking abnormal or have a knock on effect in another area.” The technique of using full-face fillers, while more expensive, produces a more natural, balanced and youthful look.
