One of the telltale signs of COVID-19 continues to be a loss of taste and smell. In most cases, this symptom goes away following a full recovery, though it\u2019s more likely to disappear quicker for patients under 40.

An ongoing study at Virginia Commonwealth University has found that at least four out of five people who lost their sense of smell or taste due to COVID-19 experienced a full recovery of their senses in six months. Participants in the study who were younger than 40 apparently were the fastest to recover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe more we learn from those who\u2019ve been affected, the better we can advise their health care providers and even individuals themselves on how to manage those symptoms,\u201d lead study author Dr. Daniel Coelho, M.D., told Medical Dialogues.
